Read the Declaration of Independence on July 4th

Declaration of Independence

Each July 4th, Hillsdale College encourages Americans to read aloud the Declaration of Independence. It isn’t necessary to register with Hillsdale to read this document that is at the bedrock of our history, but if you do register, you quickly receive a digital copy from which to read.

Join thousands of others in reading the Declaration – and encourage others to do so as well!

Hillsdale is located in south central Michigan near both the Indiana and Ohio borders. The school is a bulwark of Liberty and teaches the Constitution to each and every student. For more than 170 years, Hillsdale College has promoted “the diffusion of sound learning” as the best means of preserving “the blessings of civil and religious liberty and intellectual piety.” To maintain its independence in every regard, Hillsdale does not accept one penny of state or federal taxpayer funding—even indirectly in the form of student grants and loans.

Hillsdale offers many free on-line courses including a superb series on the Constitution.
