I am ’56 Packard Man, a.k.a. «Louis la Vache». This blog is mostly about cars, and mostly about Packard cars. My favorite Packards are the ’56 models. In the blog’s masthead photo is a ’56 Patrician Touring Sedan in Mojave Tan and Dover White. My other favorite cars are Studebakers, especially the ’53-’54 Commander Starliners, which I think is the most beautiful car ever built. About once a week, our friend “Jerry Mander” will stop by and trash the politicians and every Friday, «Louis la Vache» publishes The Friday Funnies.

    56 Packard Man, My good friend GP Cox sent me to your site. You just may be my salvation. My father had 2 Packards, a ’37 and a ’39. I have a great picture of one of them, but I don’t know which year or the model and style. Can you help me?

    56 Packard Caribbean man here too! And I love the paint colors on my hardtop (paint code MTV) ! The 56 Packard belongs in the same collection or museum as Ferraris, 57 Chevys, Tuckers etc..

        Thank you Keep up the good work, and know that your efforts help to promote or familiarize the many people out there about this car. Personally viewing the 56 Caribbean, it seems to be one of the most captivating, beautiful, exciting cars ever. And to go with it, mile stone innovation, top horse power (early in “56) rare, top of the line model, and the use of MTV paint code, a refreshing and beautiful look, especially in good lighting, even tropical looking.

    Thank you for doing these articles. Having both Studebaker and Packards I like the way you balance your thoughts.

    Have you ever done an article on the Packard-Merlin connection during WWII? Here is an article that was sent to me by a military (ret) friend knowing I have Studebakers.

    I’ve been working on a 56 clipper. Had it running. Took it on 2. 2mile round trip drives down my back country road. It sat for a week before I could start it again. Now it spits up thru the carb and won’t run. Any help or info or possible causes or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

    In 1959 my dad sold our 1953 Patrician to a local family with five kids. He said it wasn’t stylish enough any longer. Two weeks later the big Packard was hit by a train in Pomona, California. Everyone survived, with injuries, but everyone survived. Wow!
